Registration for Summer Art Camps, presented by the Auburn Arts Association at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center is happening now! These camps, created by Chichi Lovett, retired Auburn University art professor, and coordinated by Sara Custer, cultural arts administrator, focus on a variety of age appropriate classes taught by area artists, art educators and guest artists.
Summer Art Camps are a great way to expose children to art history and inventive art techniques, while keeping them social this summer! Children will learn about various art mediums and materials while receiving guidance from our most experienced educators. There is an emphasis on art appreciation and the process of creating art. An exhibition of children’s artwork is held at the end of each session.
Two camps are being offered, Art for Young Children, which is for children ages 4-6, as well as Visual Arts Workshops for Children, which is for children ages 7-12.
Two sessions of Art for Young Children are being offered June 26-June 28 and July 17-July 19 from 10 a.m. to noon. Each session costs $60 per child and $55 for each additional child.
Three sessions of Visual Arts Workshops for Children are being offered July 9-July 13, July 23-July 27 and July 30-August 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. Each session costs $80 per child and $75 for each additional child.
In certain circumstances, scholarships are available, and Auburn Arts Association members receive a discount for their children. Prices of the sessions include all materials needed and snacks.
Registration is held at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center located at 222 E. Drake Avenue. Please contact the Arts Center with any additional questions you have at (334) 501-2963. For more information and for all summer camp dates, please visit http://www.auburnalabama.org/arts.
